Gayle Rothschild is an award winning photographer and educator. During a career that has spanned over forty years, Gayle has focused her lens on such diverse subjects as landscapes from the C&O Canal, Potomac River series, and views of life in the suburbs, digital collages, street scenes from around the world and many portraits. 



Gayle's work is found in the collections of the Museum of Fine Art, Houston, Texas and the Corcoran Museum of Art, Washington, DC, as well as in many private collections. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions, recently at the American University Museum Katzen Art Center, "Washington Art Matters: 1940s-1980s" , "Presence of Place” and "Moves Like Water: New Curators Open the Corcoran Legacy Collection" and in a solo show, “The Roaring Twenties, 2020, 2021, 2022” at The Park View Gallery at Glen Echo Park.



She is the photographer/illustrator for the children’s book, What Is The Sign For Friend, Franklin Watts, publisher.


Gayle was an instructor at Photoworks since 1983. She is currently President of the Photoworks Executive Board and serves as Director of Exhibitions for the organization. In that capacity, Gayle has curated more than 60 gallery exhibitions, including solo shows and juried collections. In addition, Gayle oversees an internship program to introduce area high school students to the art and business of photography.
